The tradition of chanting mantras in Indian culture is going on since ancient times. The importance of chanting mantras has been explained in great detail in ancient religious texts. Thousands of mantras are found in the ancient Vedas which mention the fulfillment of the purpose. The basis of mantra power lies in our faith. The soul, body, and the whole environment are purified by chanting the mantra. These small mantras are supposed to transmit infinite power in themselves. It is only by chanting these mantras that a person is able to get rid of all the difficulties and troubles. Mantras exert their effect in the remembrance of the Lord in such a way that God Himself becomes ready to remove our sufferings.

Saints composed them while experiencing the power of mantras like Markandeya Ji perfected the Mahamrityunjaya mantra and Vishwamitra Ji composed the Gayatri mantra, similarly, Tulsidas Ji and Kalidas Ji composed many mantras. At the time of chanting, there is an idea to chant through the rosary, mantras have infinite power, the things used in mantra chanting must be taken care of, posture, garland, clothes, place, time and mantra chanting number, etc. should be followed. Shabar Mantra, Vedic Mantra, and Tantric Mantra are the types of Mantras. Mantras can be performed by chanting in the mind known as Upashu, or with loud words. Reciting clear mantras is called vocal chanting, in slow motion that which cannot be heard by others is called Upanshu Japa and Manas Japa in which the mantra is contemplated in the mind itself. For mantra accomplishment, it is necessary that the mantra should be kept secret, chanting done at the time of the eclipse is very beneficial. Chanting during the eclipse period gives several hundred times more results.

Before chanting the mantra, the seeker should take full care of the cleanliness of his mind and body. While concentrating the mind, one should remember the Lord and chant Om. The person chanting should do the chanting while sitting on the seat. The seat should be made of wool, silk, cotton, kusha or deerskin, etc. The use of asanas is considered necessary because the energy that operates within us at that time, due to lack of posture, gets absorbed in the earth and deprives us of the said energy.

If the seeker chants the mantra with reverence and devotion, then full benefits are obtained. Japa sadhana can be done in Siddhapeeth, river mountain, holy forest, secluded place, in water, in the temple or anywhere at home. While chanting the mantra, lighting the lamp, and chanting the mantra in front of it is going to give auspicious results.

The law of Mantra Sadhana can be completed only by Shiva’s determination, faith, and purity, strong willpower, posture, rosary, concentration, chanting, havan, and patience.
