Moon or Chandra in Sanskrit is the closest planet to earth. It strongly controls human emotions, feelings, and moods. Moon rules Cancer and the 4th House. It spends 2-1/2 days in each sign and takes approximately 30 days to complete its astrological cycle through each zodiac sign.

Moon is the only planet in astrology that revolves around the Earth. The distance between the Earth and Moon is approximately 2,38,000 miles. Moon rules the lives of the beings on Earth. Moon also represents mother, since it is feminine in nature, it makes us timid. Moon governs the impregnation, birth of the child, and rules the infant stage of a person. Afflicted Moon at the time of birth causes ailments and does not allow to have proper growth. Its proximity to the Earth and rapidity of motion make it a powerful significator. It rules liquids, fresh water, milk, groceries, fish, drinks, sailing, brewing, nursing, and females. Moon’s impact on the brain is very powerful as it is too close to the earth.
